It regulates the nerve activity responsible for controlling the bladder, rectum and perineum. <\/p><p>Neuromodulation can be proposed in the following situations:<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u2714 Overactive bladder<\/strong> (urgent urges, leakage, frequent urination),<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>\u2714 Functional urinary retention<\/strong> (inability goal of neuromodulation is to &#8220;retrain&#8221; the nervous system by gently stimulating the sacral nerve roots (primarily S3) with low-frequency electrical impulses. This technique allows for: \n\n\u2022 reduce overactive bladder,\n\n\u2022 restore a normal sensation of urinary urge\n\n\u2022 improve or trigger bladder emptying,\n\n\u2022 relieve chronic pelvic pain.\n\n<hr>\n\n<h3>Treatment sequence<\/h3>\n<strong>Step 1: Testing phase (or evaluation phase)<\/strong>\n\n\u2022 Performed on an outpatient basis, under local or light anesthesia.\n\u2022 Implantation of a thin electrode near the sacral root (often S3).\n\u2022 Connection to an external neurostimulator for 1 to 3 weeks.\n\u2022 Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness on urinary and pelvic symptoms.\n\u2022 The patient keeps a voiding diary to note improvements.\n\nIf the test phase shows an improvement \u2265 50%, the final implantation is carried out.\n\n<strong>Step 2: Neurostimulator Implantation<\/strong>\n\n\u2022 Performed under light general anesthesia.\n\u2022 The stimulator (the size of a USB key) is implanted under the skin, at the top of the
